Yes, You can deploy a firmware-file in /tftpboot to specific MAC addresses only, with the firmware admin progam , "utfwadmin" or "utfwload" or some similar name.
So that only the selected Sun Ray units get a specific firmware version.
In a beta project this spring we preloaded some Sun Ray 2 units with the VPN firmware before we shipped them off to a remote site. We did'nt use the VPN as it was a customers internal network , just the remote connect functionality and the pop-up GUI to be able to manually input network connection data. ( remote site = wrong DHCP information in this case )

Hi,

We've just installed SRSS3.1 at a customer site and late in the day they've asked for a couple of the sun rays ( all 270's) to be located remotely and connect via VPN. Does anyone know if it's possible to avoid upgrading to SRSS 4.0 09/07 by introducing the new firmware to the existing firmware server?
Thanks

James
