Greetings,
I just installed SRSS 3.1 for the first time on a Fedora Core 6 system
so that I could test out a Sun Ray 1. The Sun Ray client is working
well (I'm typing this e-mail from it), but I'm having several problems:
Sound: My Sun Ray regularly beeps at the appropriate times and when I
cat an ".au" file to $AUDIODEV I hear random noise from the speakers on
the Sun Ray, which I suppose is a good sign. But my other sound
applications will not generate sound on the Sun Ray client, and it seems
to be ALSA-related. For instance, trying to start esd will generate :
[EMAIL PROTECTED] mp3]$ esd -d $AUDIODEV
- using device /tmp/SUNWut/dev/utaudio/utdsp-0
ALSA lib pcm.c:2145:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM
/tmp/SUNWut/dev/utaudio/utdsp-0
mpg123 will generate:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] mp3]$ mpg123 --audiodevice $AUDIODEV test.mp3
decoder: 3DNowExt

Setting and exporting LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libc_ut.so has no effect and
searching for alsa in the mailing list archives doesn't generate
anything helpful for me. Any idea what I should be doing here?
Video: I have a TV Tuner on my Sun Ray server system and I'd like to be
able to watch video (with sound, eventually :-) on the Sun Ray.
Interestingly, xawtv, while displaying video very well, seems to be
suffering from the same color inversion problems that (from the mailing
list archives) flash 9 is suffering from. Any ideas what might be
causing this? tvtime dies on start with:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]$ tvtime
Running tvtime 1.0.1.
Reading configuration from /etc/tvtime/tvtime.xml
Reading configuration from /home/aleahy/.tvtime/tvtime.xml
xvoutput: No XVIDEO port found which supports YUY2 images.
*** tvtime requires hardware YUY2 overlay support from your video card
*** driver. If you are using an older NVIDIA card (TNT2), then
*** this capability is only available with their binary drivers.
*** For some ATI cards, this feature may be found in the experimental
*** GATOS drivers: http://gatos.souceforge.net/
*** If unsure, please check with your distribution to see if your
*** X driver supports hardware overlay surfaces.
Any ideas for how to fix this?
Thanks for your help.
