Hi ,   several  questions   about the New Kiosk .

Is the intention with the Generic session  addon :
http://wiki.sun-rays.org/index.php/SRSS_Addon:_Kiosk_Mode_Generic_Session#Prototype

that  I can dump   some files  in    /etc/opt/SUNWkio/prototypes/generic
like a  firefox  profile   ( $HOME/.mozilla/firefox/*  )    and have the firefox profile copied to any utku_nnn   that activates a kiosk.     ???

Yes, but you will not have any window manager. It was meant to facilitate quick invocation of previous CAM scripts.

Rigth now I have dumped  the firefox profile in /etc/opt/SUNWkio/jds3  and that seems to work well, allthough i have sort of tainted  the gnome2 environment.

How  did you intend  to manipulate desktop backgrounds  in the gnome  kiosk ?
Initially, Gnome based kiosk is configured so that nautilus does not control the background.

Please see the JDS3 session type readme at /etc/opt/SUNWkio/sessions/jds3/README

Is it at all possible to have  gnome2 desktop launchers ( icons )   in the Kiosk  ?
Yes, Please see the JDS3 session type readme at /etc/opt/SUNWkio/sessions/jds3/README

I would  like to read a more  theroetical/technical writeup  on how the  Gnome2  Kiosk
was planned to work .  The info in the SRS 4.0 admin guide focuses on the  WEB GUI
for the kiosk and dont talk  much about  how  the  filesystems are layed out.

There is no discussion in the manual on how to design   Application and Session  conf files.
The  two examples shipped ( calculator & chararcter MAP )  are both missing  the
keyword for the  application arguments.  ( which I found  in the the uttsc.conf  file  shipped  with
Sun Ray windows connector )

Please  write up some  hard  info on the design of the Kiosk system that focus on
setting up kiosk applications using the  prototypes , sessions  and application conf  files.
As this seem to be missing from the admin guide.  (  Part No. 820-0411-10 )

There is a Document which outlines some of this in the Kiosk presentation in this post:
