How do I know if a card satisfies the above conditions?
Wow, it's "Smartcard Question Night at The Ritz" tonite I see ;-)
You would find that out by looking at the datasheet of a card that
you are interested in (try Googling for the card that you want to
use for example). A lot of folks that want to use smartcards with
Sun Ray have already deployed cards for things like physical access,
network access, e-purse, that kind of thing, so people in those
situations would ask the card vendor for technical info on the cards.
Most smartcards have either a T=0 or T=1 interface, a lot of more
modern cards can be programmed to switch between the two, and all
the cards that I've worked with over the past decade have a unique
number on them somewhere that you can extract.
There are some cards out there that have a synchronous interface;
these are usually the less expensive cards that are used in
applications such as European telephone payment cards and so on,
and these cards will not work in a Sun Ray DTU since I haven't
touched the sync code in the firmware for many years ;-) Sync cards
also are frequently simple memory cards, sometimes with some hard
wired logic front end to accept a PIN or a key to allow writing to
the card. All of this is specific to the card or family of cards
that you are working with.
Are you looking to get some existing cards to work with Sun Ray, or
looking for help in choosing a card to use?
Does this help?

Thanks.

Is there a master list of supported smart cards fro SRSS 4.0?
Not really. You can look through the smartcard config files that
are part of the release:
/etc/opt/SUNWut/smartcard
and you can also write your own config file (or modify an existing
config file).
Any cards you use for session mobility need to have the following
characteristics:
- T=0 or T=1 (i.e. no sync cards supported)
- Have a unique serial number/ID of some sort that does not
require any security conditions to be met in order to read
it - i.e. you need to be able to read this without presenting
a PIN for example
Does anyone have any suggestions for cards that they have used?
A number of the big card vendors make inexpensive cards that should
work OK for your application.
