Hello Tjiputra,

The place to start, in case you haven't already found it, is:
http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/coll/1230.6?l=en

Specifically the Installation and Administration documents.
A LAN deployment is usually the most flexible option,
particularly if you foresee growing to support multiple
server groups for different user groups in the future.
Interconnects are a very conservative and less flexible
choice.

Note the supported OSs. Many people on this list have
managed to get Sun Ray Software working on unsupported
Linux distros, however, and there are some notes on how
to do this for some distros on the group TWiki:
http://www.filibeto.org/sun/sunray-users/index.html
If you have a support contract, your best course is probably
to migrate your users to a supported platform.

You might take a look at some of the mail archives at that
website regarding issues you have in mind.

Finally, you may find useful information in the Think Thin
blog:

Good luck!

Hi All,

I just join this mail group. And hope I can learn a lot from all u guys here.
My company just bought Sun Ray for 50 units, which they preparing as terminal
for most of our developers.
And this few days, I'm looking documentation about Sun Ray architecture and
what is the requirements and how it really works, but still don't have enough
information.

May be I can get some explanation here related with the SunRay including how's
it suppose to be deployed. And what kind of components that I should to install?
Currently I got Sun Ray Software Server 4.0 and Sun Desktop Manager 1.0

We prepare 2 unit of Sun X4155 for 20 developers. What's is the server os
recommended for this?
Most of our developer now work using opensuse 10.3 with KDE.

I'm sorry if I directly put so much questions here. I just have 1 days left. Next year they will start using it, and either Sun Microsystems Indonesia never installed Sun Ray.
Thx

Tjiputra
