If I am trying to run Sun Desktop Manager, what should I look at?

"Connection failure" probably indicates that the component that is responsible for applying the menu configuration to your desktop session cannot connect to the configuration manager agent.

To troubleshoot:

- Check the status of the desktop configuration agent service:
  $ svcs svc:/network/apocd/udp

- Check the configuration agent logs.

- Check that the desktop configuration agent is correctly configured to point to your configuration manager repository. (Use the 'apoc-config' tool).

For more detail see the Sun Desktop Manager Administration Guide.

I have a test server running Solaris 10 with SRSS 4.0 with all applicable patches and I get this in the messages file:

An error occurred while running the desktop applications 'menu' plugin: Connection failure

I don't see any problem at the desktop. Is this just an annoyance or is it a sign of a problem I need to take care of.

Unless you are trying to use Sun Desktop Manager to manage users' menus, this message is just an annoyance.
