Hi Lars,

Thanks for taking the time to respond and help a new guy out, much appreciated.

I must admit I was completely bamboozled for a while on this one, even after
reading your advice...it also seems that neither the PDF/HTML help docs nor
man pages offer any handy examples or guides about how to roll things like
prototypes, unless I am missing something.

However after several hours tinkering I managed to acheive the following, I'd
be interested to know if you think it's an okay solution. It has created one
problem though which I'd be equally interested to get tips on the cause of.

(My original post is at the bottom of the email).

1) Trying to install two instances of Firefox was dumb on my part, this
was before I knew anything about how FF profiles work (I have hitherto
used Safari pretty much exclusively).

So I now source my Kiosk session executable from /usr/lib/firefox/firefox

2) I've run FF profile manager and created a profile for my usual local
server logon, and one for my Kiosk sessions. I have created the Kiosk
profile at:

/etc/opt/SUNWkio/prototypes/jds3/.mozilla/firefox/FFKiosk

3) Using # firefox -P FFKiosk, I installed the BMA kiosk plugins as found on the
the Think Thin blog, as well as a theme which alters the default FF buttons etc
to something a bit more suitable for kiosk-like appearance.

4) In the SRSS Kiosk admin page, I enter the following arguments to the
FF executable:

-profile "/var/opt/SUNWkio/home/*/.mozilla/firefox/FFKiosk" -kiosk

(the -kiosk switch launches FF with the BMA kiosk extension enabled)

My SunRay 170 picks up these parameters and everything looks as it
should. Can you see any problems with this approach thus far?

The only observable prob I have now is that even though the session
type is set to AUTO, this does not behave as expected, rather it's behaving
as USER, in that I have to manually launch FF from the JDS launch button.

Curiously, if I warm restart SRSS, then when the DTU comes back to life
it will launch the session automatically. If I however subsequently exit the
session or terminate it on the server, it will return to behaving as USER
session.

Hope this makes sense, any help would be great ! :)

Cheers, Dave

Similar to above you need to put a prepared
.mozilla/firefox directory ( template )
in /etc/opt/SUNWkio/prototypes/jds3 complete with all the
extensions and Plugins
you want the kiosk user to have.

The reason your additional stuff dont show up is because the kiosk
user has a virgin .mozilla/firefox
directory everytime the kiosk is regenerated.
