I'm using OpenSuse 10.3 as a SunRay server and I'm tidying up the setup before I let my users loose on the system.

Generally we ssh to remote machines and then any X-windows apps from the remote machine automatically appear on the local SunRay display. In the past we used to use telnet and then export DISPLAY=fir:11, for instance, and this would also work. On an OpenSuse 10.3 SunRay terminal this old method no longer works. Does anyone have any ideas why not? I'd like to clear up this loose end just in case it comes back to bite me when I go live with the Linux SunRay setup.

Local SunRay called fir:
fir$ xhost +
access control disabled, clients can connect from any host
fir$ echo $DISPLAY
:11.0
fir$ xauth list
fir/unix:11 MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 f54a15689022a38b8799ef3eaf87e73d
localhost.localdomain/unix:11 MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 f54a15689022a38b8799ef3eaf87e73d

Remote machine called pine:
telnet pine
pine$ export DISPLAY=fir:11
pine$ xterm
xterm Xt error: Can't open display: fir:11

pine$ export DISPLAY=fir/unix:11
pine$ xterm
xterm Xt error: Can't open display: fir/unix:11
