It prevents the configuration from being *changed*. We have a "factory reset" solution for this integrated into the firmware but not turned on. It would involve the customer calling Sun service with a challenge generated by the unit, which would be signed using a private key and read back to the customer. We've never gotten a buy-in from service to support this, however. Be thankful. If it didn't work they way it does, you'd have a brick. ;-)
