Keith,

I run (and am typing from) a Sun Fire[tm] X2100 Dual 2211 MHz CPU, 2GB RAM, Running Sun Solaris + Sun Ray Software. To get the whole family working on this, I did the following:

* Utilize blackbox instead of Gnome/CDE.
* Restart Firefox/Thunderbird regularly to clear application heap creep.
* Utilize xrvt instead of gnome-terminal.
* Reduce Services on system to those needed.

Works great :)

Joel.

I run Sol 10 with SRSS on something older than that (2 CPU cores about 2GHz and 6GB RAM) and host 24 DTUs with a Windows Connector to a separate WTS box. No significant complaints yet. The WTS box is an X4600 with 8 CPU cores and 16GB RAM, so it should hold me for a while.

There is noticeable lag when all 24 clients load up the same development application at the same time. I haven't tracked down the bottleneck yet, if it's SRSS or WTS. It hasn't been a showstopper for me.

I am curious if anyone is using X2100 as sunray server.
My platform:
Sol 10 with 4 gig memory

If so, what is your user load?
Anyone else who would like to speculate… please.

Thanks
