Are you using a kiosk mode? If so, you need to give a little time to your
mount to be done. The way a normally do it, is through a script (using the
Generic X Session), and in my script, I give a little sleep time of 2 seconds.
This is enough to get the drive mounted, and when the script launch the
"uttsc" command with the "-r", it works well.

If you're not using a script, and you are just doing it from command line, try
to put a "sleep 2" somewhere, maybe it's all you need?
