Hi,

XenDesktop only uses the streaming client inside the virtual XP/Vista
session to receive apps streamed into the desktop from XenApp. You do
not need the streaming client to connect via ICA to a XenDesktop
session. On a Windows platform you also do not need the latest client,
called the Desktop Receiver, to access XenDesktop, only to access some
of the new features such as the resizeable window. If you use a legacy
(Windows) ICA client to access XenDesktop you get through fine, but
don't have access to the new Desktop Receiver functions.

I have been meaning to try this , and have not had a chance yet, but I
am assuming it will work with the Solaris client in the same way,
allowing access but no advanced functions, which you don't really want
in this example anyway.

I am quite keen to try it soon, though, as you get the back-end smarts
of XenDesktop/Provisioning Server, which are fantastic and (IMHO) better
than Quest vWorkspace or VMware View, coupled with the SunRay delivery
mechanism.

Regards,

Mark

Hi,

I've been looking into this aswell.
I think this won't work because XenDesktop needs the new citrix
streaming client which is only available for windows platforms so far
i've seen. Wyse Viance should support XenDesktop but lacks information
regarding it's OS, so i guess it's windows based.

Hi

I have some customers asking if anyone has tried deploying Sun Rays with
Citrix XenDesktop. I'm quite sure that you would only be able to access
the XenDesktop infrastructure via a web browser. How would this need to
be setup, if my customer is wanting to display full window mode to
access a Windows VM? It appears that we'll need to run kiosk mode in the
Sun Ray environment also, since it's desired that the enduser only needs
to log into the Xen Desktop Windows VM.

Thanks
