Hi Patrick,

huh... this is getting interesting/strange:

My findings (based on your suggestions):
Printing of "http://www.cairographics.org/FAQ"; results in "empty"
printjob / "empty" 412byte PDF.

Printing of "http://www.mozilla.org/projects/granparadiso/"; *DOES* print
to both printer and PDF file!!!

Both tests are reproducible without any derivation.

No problem related output in /var/log/gdm/... (with debug enabled)

So,
* the (cups) print device is obviously not relevant
* the page content *is* obviously dependent

I'm somewhat clueless what the actual cause could be...

Hi list,

I should enter this discussion now too:

So we have now 3 instances (David, Joerg, me) where the problem exist and one (you) where it works.
And one instance where it works sometimes. Try www.cairographics.org/FAQ
which works printing to CUPS pdf and www.debian.org which does not work
on the same device.

Tested with SRSS 4.1 on debian lenny with iceweasel(firefox) 3.0.3.

I would say, it is device independent. You can reproduce the problem
also with the "Print to file" destination: For Content which does not
work, it always produces a 412bytes PDF. If I interpret the behavior of
xpdf correct, the file is not corrupt but contains ZERO pages!

I know firefox HAS been using xprint for printing which does something
with the X-Driver (don't know more specific). I do not know if this is
still the case, but I get the impression, it does.

Murray, could you please verify, that you really CAN print
http://www.debian.org and http://www.google.de (which does not work for me)?

David, Joerg, Sebastian, could you please recheck, if you can print
http://www.cairographics.org/FAQ or
http://www.mozilla.org/projects/granparadiso/ ?

I'm pretty sure, we reduce the problem now to "firefox cannot print
specific pages" for all of us? ;-)

So long,
