did new installation of SRSS4 10/08 on SXCE x86 b105.

I use JDS kiosk and I can't launch even the predefined applications (Character
Map and Calculator).

How do you try to launch them? The JDS is locked down so that only the kiosk-generated launchers work.

I have also customized JDS kiosk session which works well on my previous
installation (SRSS4 Update 3 Beta on SXCE x86 b97) but doesn't work at all on
this new one.

What/how did you customize it?

Is anyone aware of any significant change in the Sun Ray Kiosk or JDS in SXCE
which would prevent launch of application or other configuration changes?

It is called the JDS*3* kiosk session for a reason.

The Sun Ray JDS Kiosk Session was changed (in 4.1 iirc) so that it starts on SXCE in the first place. Previously it failed to start a session at all (because of a change in JDS).

Another change in JDS (vs. Solaris 10) broke the mechanism used by the Kiosk Session to generate its own menu, with only the configured kiosk applications and none of the stock items that are normally added into the menu by hard-coded gnome-panel logic.

Unfortunately that means that the kiosk-generated launchers (remember, they are the only ones that work) aren't in the menu....

While the launch menu is not of much use, there is a way to make those launchers available: use the '-s' option in the 'Arguments' field for the session to show the desktop background, including launcher icons for configured kiosk applications. And those should work.

At least that works for me in SXCE 101a.

BTW: there are more things broken. For example the mechanism used to implement automatic launching of 'auto' or 'critical' applications in JDS3, is also broken in current SXCE.
