Nik:
I agree with Mike Cornelia ... give it a try. We've also had good
success with a "wedge-type" USB barcode scanner from Symbol. We have
only used our barcode scanners on an application running on our Sunray
Server.
Wedge barcode readers send out signals as if they were typed on the
keyboard (which, I think, is the origin of the name "wedge" to describe
these things .... they behave as if they were simply wedged into the
keyboard.) For the old PS2-type connectors you needed to use a
Y-connector .... but for USB devices, you just plug the barcode scanner
into one of the open USB ports on the back of your Sunray. So, as long
as you are set up so you application will respond appropriately to
keyboard strokes, I believe that it is likely to also respond to your
barcode scanner.
Good luck,
John
