I thought that there is a hook to libusb which allows you to interface with
any usb device? I know it requires some development to get it working, but
if you need support for some particular device class, that would be the way
to go. The other thing to realize that it you're going to be doing usb over
lan, so usb 2.0 speeds won't be possible unless the client has a gigabit
adapter as well. Your devices will need to understand that they can only
operate at 1.1 speed and that means that using devices like high resolution
scanners can be potentially a painful experience for the end users.

My experience is mostly with 1g clients, I don't know if this is different
with newer 2fs 'rays.
