We've reproduced the problem and have a potential fix that we're hoping
to integrate into build 111 in time for OS2009.06.
I'll send you a binary fix offline (too big to send to the alias) and
we'd appreciate it if you could try it out and let us know if it fixes
your problem.

When session language is changed in GDM (through Options menu) , during
pam auth DISPLAY variable is not set. It is critical for us, cause one
of our pam modules uses this variable to connect users and DTUs (user A
is allowed to access only from terminal A). If I login as normal os user
(for which this pam module is sufficient, but not required), DISPLAY
variable in user session is set as it should.
When user doesn't use Options menu in Gnome, everything is OK. But if he
