And you wouldn't just use a Sun Ray for this?
The simplest way to do this is to just stick a smartcard into a Sun Ray.
Then run, in another session, utwho -ac and grep for the MAC address of
the Sun Ray with the smartcard in it.
Pop the smartcard, insert another, and run it again.
You could probably pre-load the database with active users by running
utwho -c in a cron script periodically for a while on active servers.
That would at least give you a good head start and you could then
approach who's left to get their cards and do them manually.
