So I take it hot desking doesn't work yet... schucks. Hot desking is a must have in my book.

No no no - this is a misinterpretation. Hotdesking doesn't rely on PAM at all, it's core to the SRSS architecture. The pam_sunray_hotdesk module has to do with Remote Hotdesk Authentication, which causes a more secure out-of-session authentication when you hotdesk.

If for some reason pam_sunray_hotdesk.so (or loginGUI itself) doesn't work on Ubuntu, just specify the -D option to utpolicy to use legacy hotdesking, which relies on the screen lock program (i.e. xscreensaver or gnome-screensaver) to provide security when hotdesking. If you use the browser admin tool, select "Direct Session Access Allowed" on the policy page.
