Thanks for the feedback.  However messing around with the socks2path
file didn't seem to help.  (Actually couldn't pull DHCP for some
reason...)

In any case, the solution for myself was just to reload my test box with
Solaris 10 versus OpenSolaris.  Worked without a hitch the first time
around.

Just didn't want to leave the thread hanging...
