I'm running CentOS as the SunRay host, and have used different versions (4.6, 5.1, 5.2) on both VMWare Workstation 6, 6.5 and ESX 3 and 3.5 without any other VM-related problems than a lockup due to time-skipping discussed previously on this list (fixed in a patch some time ago). Have also tried Debian as virtualized SunRay host in the same environments without such problems.
