A security vulnerability in Sun Ray Server Software (SRSS) 4.0 may allow unauthorized manipulation of sessions:

1. Impact

A security vulnerability in the Sun Ray Server Software (SRSS) "utdmsession" command may allow a local unprivileged user to gain unauthorized access to Sun Ray sessions of other users.

2. Contributing Factors

This issue can occur in the following releases:

SPARC Platform

    * Sun Ray Server Software 4.0 (for Solaris 10) without patch 127553-06

x86 Platform

    * Sun Ray Server Software 4.0 (for Solaris 10) without patch 127554-06

Linux Platform

* Sun Ray Server Software 4.0 (for RHEL AS 4, SLES 9) without patch 127555-06

Note: Sun Ray Server Software 4.1 is not affected by this issue. Sun Ray Server Software 3.1.1, Sun Ray Server Software 3.1 and earlier releases of Sun Ray Server Software will not be evaluated regarding this issue.

To determine the version of Sun Ray Server Software on a system, the following command can be run:

    $ /opt/SUNWut/lib/utprodinfo -p SUNWuto VERSION

3. Symptoms

There are no predictable symptoms that would indicate the described issue has occurred.

4. Workaround

There is no workaround for this issue. Please see the Resolution section below.

5. Resolution

This issue is addressed in the following releases:

SPARC Platform

* Sun Ray Server Software 4.0 (for Solaris 10) with patch 127553-06 or later

x86 Platform

* Sun Ray Server Software 4.0 (for Solaris 10) with patch 127554-06 or later

Linux Platform

* Sun Ray Server Software 4.0 (for RHEL AS 4, SLES 9) with patch 127555-06 or later
