Oh, allright I made some customization of the VDA 2.0 script, so that it grabs an attached USB-connected printer This thing is an adaption of the "kioskprinting" script that has appeared on the think thin blog .

The attached fle contains the scripts . the comments are in swedish but you dont need them. First is the /usr/dt/config/Xsession.d/1100-LocalPrint script that kicks the thing of with UTACTION.

The second and third scripts sets up the spooler streams.

Second is the version of set-printer.sh that you need for making Postscript printing work from the UNIX GNOME Desktop

Third is the verison of set-printer.sh that you need for making it work as a Passthough conduit while Windows XP does the
Postscript rendering.

the Fourth script is my ugly customization of the VDA script in VDA 2.0 the additions are written in italics.

As the Unix Spooler queues are created and torn down each time you login or move you smartcard with UTACTION I dont think there will be an problems with the FOG as the FOG is not and does not need to know ablut the printerqueues.

Hi,

Were are you printers ? USB- Attcahed to the Sun Ray ?
All the printers are USB-Attach to the DTU's.

Locally attached to the Sun Ray server ?
No yet, maybe in the future will have locally printers attached to the SunRay Servers.

Network printers reachable from windows and from the Sun Ray servers ?

Networks printers works perfect!! No issues in that case!

locally attached to a Windows 2003/2008 server ?
All the windows sessions are XP. Not Windows 2003 by now!

Thanks Lars!

Hi folks,

I really need a advice or a good feed back from you about this topic.

I am testing a SunRays Servers in FOG mode with uttsc printing. How can I keep the printing service configured in each DTU if a SunRay Server 1 goes down for example!

Do I need to configure the same printers in each server? Can somebody point me in the right direction? Any good link, white paper or blog about it?

thanks in advace! I will summarize!
