Jochen,

I've just re-read your email about the VMware View connector (SRVC). I've been playing around with it over the last couple of days and I've managed to alter the GUI and add extra buttons so you can change the screen resolution of the sun ray desktop.

Why do you say that the VMWare View Client isn't an option in your eyes?? I might be able to help.

Stuart.

Hi,

I am working on a vmware view based solution to display Windows XP sessions on our Sun Rays. We require this to be available both in kiosk mode as well as as a user application for regular Unix sessions. I am currently facing these issues:

- SRVC: What comes from Sun is basically for kiosk mode only. At a first glance it should be somewhat easily be possible to rework the scripts around vdmclient.jar so that it can be used on demand in a regular X session based on Solaris. As an alternative I have tried the open source view client from vmware but got stuck in getting libboost compiled for Solaris. Also it seems to only work with rdesktop given the obvious disadvantages as compared to uttsc. So VMware View open client is not an option in my eyes. Does anybody know if a solution is already available somewhere before I develop things on my own?

- SRWC: In a kiosk session on a multihead group Windows just sees that one big single display which results in very inconvenient behaviour in regards to window positioning and geometry (like it is on the 2FS clients). If a user maximizes a window, she really does not want it to span across the borders of the physical display. Is there a way to make Windows aware of the actual physical screens?

Thanks
Jochen
