Hi.

I am trying to set up a Working VDI3 demo.

We have an X4200 as the VDIserver , a X4150 as the Virtualbox server and a X7110 openstorage array. I am struggeling to understand the sequence of events thats supposed to take place while cloneing a windowXP virtual machine.

We have prepared a Windows XP vm in Virtualbox 2.08 and installed sysprep on the image.

We have imported the image to the openstorage array and converted it to a template. we have tried to create a sysprep scriptfile in the cloneing tab of the pool properties.

When I start cloneing I can observer the cloneing process using "uttsc" to the Virtualbox process thats used during the cloneing. ( you can se the RDP portnumber by running a "pfiles" on the virtualbox PID. )

So I am satisfied with the fact that the sysprep process runs and does its job.

My problem is that the VDI-Services doesnt recognize thet the sysprep process has finished.

Unless I manually log on to the newly syspreped windowsXP image using the above descriped "backdoor" and mannually shutdown the windows XP virtual machine the VDI server does not change the status of the cloning to "succeeded " It seems to me that the virtualbox process that does host the virtual machine during the sysprep process must be terminated in order for the VDI-server to recognize that the cloning operation has
finished.

Can you fill in some information here:

Which criteria decides the termination of the sysprep cloning process ? When and why does the VDI server recgonixe a successful cloneing run ?

What is a virtual WindowsXP machine supposed to do, to signal the end of the cloening process ? ( to the VDI server )
