Hi,
We have found some trouble after updating one of our Linux Sun Ray servers
to latest RHEL 5.3 as well as latest patch updates to SRSS 4.1 and SRCW
2.1. Basically, windows kiosk sessions do not come up, instead getting an
error dialog when the session should be starting.

Error dialog we get is:
"Your session only lasted less than 10 seconds. <blah blah blah>
installation problem or out of diskspace. <blah blah blah> [OK]"

Looking inside the view details in the error dialog, we see:
"
/etc/opt/SUNWut/gdm/SunRayPreSession/SessReg: Registering your session
with wtmp and utmp
/etc/opt/SUNWut/gdm/SunRayPreSession/SessReg: running /usr/bin/sessreg -a
-w /var/log/wtmp -u /var/run/utmp -x "var/gdm/:17.Xservers" -h "" -l ":17"
"utku24"
Agent pid 20757
localuser:utku24 being added to access control list
No profile for user 'utku24' found
"

Everything appeared to go OK during the updating process. Lots of free
disk space. On surface at least, this would appear most likely to be a
problem with either the SRSS patches (139550-02 , 141178-01 ) or SRCW one
(139727-01 ).

As an additional possible clue, when we install our special kiosk type on
top, we also get an additional error dialog before we see the one above
(may or may not be related):
"User's $HOME.dmrc file is being ignored. This prevents the default
session and language from being saved. File should be owned by user and
have 644 permissions. User's $HOME directory must be owned by user and
not writable by others. [OK]'

I am very hesitant to back out the patches, or revert to pre-updated RHEL
5.3 since our customers will of course mostly just load up the very latest
of everything.

Are others also seeing this, or similar? Known issue? Is there a config
step we missed, or some work-around? Ideas on where to look next would be
appreciated.

Cheers,
Peter Blatherwick
