Dear forum users,

I came across this document "SRSS-4.1 Installation and Configuration Guide for the Solaris OS" and on page 45, it stated about headless SunRay server and a file called Xservers.SUNWut.prototype. I have few doubts regarding this;

1) My SunRay servers doesn't have a graphic card. Do the headless setting is Mandatory for me?

My SRSS server has no graphics card either and runs on SXCE b116, and was just simple install for OS and SRSS no config required!!

2) What if i don't set the headless setting, would it going to impact my DTUs?

As stated above should be case of install and configure, point DHCP with option codes and your Rays will work :-)

3) What other problem i will encountered if not set headless?

Wait for someone else to answer this one, but so far no problems - unless you count using serial interface with roleover or console cable a problem..... and afterwards SSH.

Your advise and recommendation is appreciated.

Honestly, my system has been up and running for a while now with less issues that Sol 10 which did die on me so that's a good sign! Am limited on RAM adn CPU as system is being used at home so only 4x450MHz SPARC II and 1GB memory but still performs well considering Ray hooked up over wireless bridge.

You could read the SRSS administrators manual for more clues and wait for someone else, however to start with you should be ok!!! See this if any 'text-book' based issues: http://www.sun-rays.org/srss.html
