I know Opensolaris has some cdrom/scsi problems.
I don't know how usb-redirect might interact with the OS to handle remote disks.
But as far as I know there are no crdrom/scsi problems with Solaris 10.
So this can not be an issue in your case.

It's running on Solaris u7 x86, SRSS4.2 GA or whatever; it's not one of
the EA versions. Sunray firmware is 4.2_77_2009.10.19.17.01 Does that
help?

The SRS server is a clean install but the XP instance is from when I was
playing with EA2. I've run srs-winstaller but do you think perhaps
something from the EA2 components may be causing an issue?

On which OS/version/build is the SRS server running?

Hi all,

I just rolled a new SRS5 server connecting to a Windows XP SP3 VM under
ESX for testing; no VDI product is involved. USB redirection is working
well for flash drives but we are having issues with cdrom drives. We
have an external cdrom that works fine with a PC as a baseline. When we
plug it into a sunray the cdrom is picked up successfully in device
manager and we can read the contents of a disk.

However randomly when copying (or otherwise reading) from any disk it
seems to hang until the we remove and reinsert the drive into the USB
port. For instance we were installing a piece of software that was
550MB
on the disk and the install hung at ~20% but when we removed\reinserted
the drive the install was able to complete. Same sort of behavior when
copying through windows explorer; try to copy files and randomly
explorer hangs and the process cannot be terminated but reinsert and
everything is fine. Sounds like it's blocking on failed I/O but I
couldn't really say. Burning doesn't work either which may or may not
be
related to this issue.

So anyone see anything like this? Also, anyone successfully burn a
cdrom
through USB redirection?

Thanks, Isaac
