Yes I agree that the symptoms would be identical , the webgui isnt
usable because no kernel modules.
I wondered over the fact that I did not see any module
linking/installtion during utinstall.
but now realise that its supposed to be done during boot. With the
modules Failing to load correctly
in this case, I could not find any logs or error msgs showing this.
But thats probably because I'm not used
to Linux. ( spent 20 years with Unix sVr4 )

This sounds like the sorts of problems that occur when people neglect
to reboot after running utinstall.
The reboot "activates" the product, including building/loading the
drivers, etc.

Hi,
We installed SRSS 4.2 GA today on a Redhat 5 update 4
server ( actually an X4200 with two dualcore Opterons )
The Linux was 32-bit with PAE extensions. ( ie. large memory
model > 4GB )
utinstall ( reboot ) utadm and utconfig scripts all seamed
to work well.
However we did not get a login prompt from the webgui. just a
screen with an OK button and a restart button.
after some reaserch we realised that "lsmod" did not show any
loaded UT.modules. ( utio , utdisk ... aso )
modprobe failed in loading the modules into the kernel.
complainig about "wrong version "
We recompiled the modules from source code but the problem persisted.
We were able to use the --force options of modprobe to get the
modules loaded.
Therefore we modified the /etc/rc5.d script that loads modules
to do so with the force options.
Some use of strings(1) on the module objects showed that the
version string in the module was missing
the "PAE" string that otherwise identified the kernel and also
was returned by "uname -r" Otherwise we did not have any real
problems. :-)
Any comments ? Apart from using RHEL 5 U4 did we do
anything else wrong ?
