This is actually the new default behavior. What you are seeing is called Remote 
Hotedesk Authentication. This was put into place to guarantee that sessions 
were appropriately authenticated during a hot desk. xscreensaver and Gnome had 
several bugs which sometimes prevented the locking of the screen.
