Changes compared to what?
Changes vs. 4.2_xx... (with xx < 77), i.e. the versions from SRS 5 EA1
or EA2:
- Some of the new SRS5 features may only work properly with 4.2_77_...
- Bug fixes
- The EA versions must not be used in production and won't be supported.
Changes vs. 4.x_... (with x < 2), i.e earlier versions with or without
patches:
- Most new SRS5 features will only work with 4.2_... firmware
- Bug fixes
Really the obvious changes for a new release version vs. a pre-release
edition of the same version or a prior release.
AFAICT we don't document separately what bug fixes or even features
affect the firmware, the server or both.
The 4.2 firmware should work with older servers unchanged (except for
bug fixes). Older firmware should work with 4.2 servers, if you are not
using new features.
As with any software change there is a certain risk of regressions. If
you run into such a problem, you can get it resolved, if you have a
support contract with Sun
