Guys,

I am trying to connect a customer to Ubuntu desktop using SunRay Thin
clients. I am running SRSS 5 and SGD 4.5. Ubuntu desktops are VMware
VMs.

Right now I am trying to present an SGD login page to DTU, have them
logon and click on Ubuntu desktop link to launch the desktop.

SGD server is running on CentOS. I have Ubuntu application object setup
using ssh -X. For some reason I am unable to launch the display of
Ubuntu desktop. Session starts, but nothing is displayed.

I have done this before connecting to Solaris VM, but Ubuntu must have
something different.

The current error is an X error stating that an X server is already
running. There is a sane way to request a new screen from X but I'm not
super savvy with the desktop side of Linux so I'd have to do some
digging. In theory, the startx binary should just claim the next highest
screen number but that doesn't appear to be the case here. I think I
need to figure out the proper commands to pass to the already running X
server to get it to claim a higher screen number. I tried to do this
manually and got a bit further (/usr/bin/startx -- :1) but it claims to
not find any listening sockets.

Alternatively, is there an easier way for me to have certain DTUs launch
Ubuntu desktops? I know I can try to create a Kiosk session using Xnewt
(I think) and use Other Info field to point certain DTUs to that
session.

Is this correct? If so, how do I do that? I have never created a custom
Kiosk session.

Thank you in advance for all your help!

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Thank you!
