You need:
# echo "KIOSK_SESSION=generic" | utkiosk -i SGD
The generic.conf is a 'session descriptor', not a session configuration
that can be imported using utkiosk.

That answer also describes how to go the tiny extra step to make this
your own session, instead of using a mutilated form of the 'generic'
session.
