I have never seen this, so I can only contribute a couple of questions:

it happens after a couple of seconds... after what? midnight?
Can you still switch to a non-graphical console (Ctrl-Alt-F1...F6)?
What happens if you switch to a non-graphical console before it happens?
Is there still an X server running and serving display :0?
Anything in the log file of this X server?
Anything in the kernel log?
Ist the mouse still working?
USB or PS/2 keyboard/mouse?
Are the Sunrays working?

Best wishes,
Meik
