Both: We don't want people to be able to lock the screen and walk away; and, if they just walk away, we want the system to log them off after some period of inactivity, rather than putting up the screen saver. (Or, if the screen saver comes up for a few seconds and then they get logged off, that would be fine; maybe better, since it would provide a warning for someone who was just reading a document, say, and not actively interacting with the desktop.) I looked into the gnome-screensaver-command idea, but found that on Solaris the command isn't present. There is xscreensaver-command which fills more or less the same role, but doesn't work in quite the same way.
