Hi Karl,
Only applies to SRSS running Kiosk mode under OpenSolaris, nothing to do
with slow shut down of OpenSolaris VM's used in our VDI product.
It has to do with signal handling in the kiosk pam module. Situations
could occur where a session ended, but the methods used to tear down the
session could not be invoked due to the signal not reaching the
pam_kiosk that drives the tear down process.
If you had SRSS running Kiosk mode under OpenSolaris, you'd see messages
like this in the log files: "Could not terminate session for user utku0"
End result is you'd wind up with sessions whose primary application
exited, but Xserver doesn't terminate, the kiosk XSession script keeps
running, etc. Since other tools rely on the pam_kiosk signal handling,
even trying to use kioskrestart to kill it down, it will fail.
From an end user standpoint, I believe the DTU's would be stuck in a
limbo state with nothing displayed but a black screen (i.e. not a OSD
code 26) since SRSS still thinks the session is valid.
While OpenSolaris is an unsupported platform, the fix resulted in better
signal handling of pam_kiosk.
