Just follow up. We are running Solaris 10x86 on HP Proliant DL360G6
servers. An issue which I thought was fixed several months ago, has
crepted up again. These servers use the Broadcom NetXtreme II Gigabit
Ethernet Adapter Driver. These drivers don't seem to work well on
Solaris x86. I have the latest drivers installed from HP, but the nic
still are loosing their network connectivity. Solaris still sees them
as up and functioning just fine, but you cannot ping anything and
ifconifg down and up doesn't fix them. Only reboot fixes the problem
for now. Working with HP support now to see what can be done.
But this doesn't explain why my thin clients didn't get DHCP address
from my backup DHCP server? I have two separate DHCP servers from my
post below. The thin clients will not get IP address from my backup
DHCP server serving IP address 100.26-202.13. My backup DHCP server is
running on a SunFire 4200 so do not have any network issues with this
server.

Things were runinng along fine this morning, but now all of a sudden
all my thin clients can no longer get a IP address from my DHCP
servers. All clients are on a private VLAN, served on 192.168.100.0
with netmask 255.255.252.0. I have two DHCP servers running on that
VLAN on Solaris 10x86 configured with utadm on those servers. Here
is the output:
# ./utadm -l
LAN connections: On
Use IPv4 multicast
Subnetwork: 192.168.100.0
Netmask= 255.255.252.0
Broadcast= 192.168.103.255

FirmwareSrvr= 192.168.100.4
NewTver= 4.2_140993-03_2010.06.21.19.00
IP assignment= 199/497 (192.168.102.14)

IP assignment= 0/500 (192.168.100.26)
I have tried stopping and restarting the DHCP servers but thin clients
still are not getting any IP address from them. I'm not sure what
broke. I can ping post servers on the private vlan. Not seeing
anything in /var/adm/messages that help either.
Any ideas where to look?
