This seems like fairly straight forward fix/hack. Why does such a seemally simple addition need to go through such lengthy localization process when the GUI object is exactly the same apart from section location?

As I wrote in the blog post, there are several technical and internal process reasons why we couldn't release this in a patch at this time.

As it turns out when looking at this change, localization time is not one of them (although that comes unexpectedly). But there are other aspects where this small change would have caused a disproportional amount of overhead.

Processes around patch creation and release are stringent for a very good reason - regressions in a patch are extremely unpleasant for everyone affected. But sometimes this makes it difficult to quickly release an apparently innocuous change.

We felt it was better to release the feature now in a CLI-only fashion than to delay it (or the rest of the SRSS patch) in order to include the GUI change.

With my instructions you can now close that gap - but at *your* risk :-o

See <http://blogs.sun.com/joergb/entry/ovdc_smartcards_a_web_ui> for a
hack^Wway to make that checkbox appear yourself while you wait for the
official feature.
