Yes I've been concerned about that. I'm just going to swap out that
DTU when I'm up at that site, and I'll put one in with current
firmware. I'm wondering if the units directory problem could somehow
be related to the ancient firmware on the DTU.

Didn't you say you had that working? Was that really with this DTU?

Well, thinking back, it may not have been. (sorry about that) This is the first time I've attempted to use a USB-connected device on this particular DTU, so it may be the case that I simply never paid attention to the absence of the /tmp/SUNWut/units/... directory. I'm using USB devices on other DTUs, and they're working fine.

All other normal operations are working fine on this DTU.

Someone mentioned to me that device support may not have been there
before 1.2. If that is true, having 1.1 firmware would be directly
related ...

Yes, I agree. Thank you for helping me see that. I will upgrade that DTU's firmware and see if that causes a units directory entry to appear. I suspect that it will. I will likely be at that site over the weekend.

What's the current firmware release for the Sun Ray 1 DTU, do you know
offhand?

Same as for any other DTU. All firmware releases still support all
released varieties, starting with P1 (Sun Ray 1 units came with a range
of motherboards, which have different firmware builds. Yours is a P2.)

Excellent. I sincerely hope that continues to be the case in the future. One of the many hats I wear these days is an embedded systems designer; I know how difficult it can be to maintain compatibility with previous devices in a product line. I appreciate the Sun Ray dev team's efforts in this area in particular.
