hello all,
this is not a technical question, but i'll hope that some guys can share their experiences. I've already own Sunrays, connected to old sparc servers with Solaris 10. So today, in almost 21011, there are practically unusable, and they're often unplugged... I'm wondering if i can convince my users to keep their DTUs if switching to linux or windows? i don't know any thing on linux SRSS or Windows SRSS. I continue to think that sunrays are a great solution (economical and mainly ecological). I've read that windows on sunrays is very fast, and that everything works fine (usb drives, sound, ...). From my point of view, only solaris is best, but i have to satisfy all my users. Finally, i'm in academic structure, but with Oracle we lost the matching grant process. My idea is to buy 2 x86 servers at least, 10 licences for SRSS/SGD, because the idea to retrieve a running session when outside the university is a great idea. The deal is to show that N "srss solutions" costs less than N heavy clients (pc or apple machines). But it's very important that these sessions will be as fast as possible, especially when used outside the university. Peoplme are doing mainly office applications (mail, web, latex, etc...) and sometimes matlab and maple.

Thanks in advance for help,

gerard
