Hi,
not sure where to ask. I installed an Sol11/expr on a Sparc-Server.
Thats to try it with a sunray-software.
OK, installed and get GDM to work ->
http://blogs.sun.com/stw/entry/getting_gdm_to_work_on
Here my positiv experience stops. srss is not installed at the moment.
I try to connect from a standard-solaris 10-loginscreen via "Remote
Login – Enter Hostname".
That did not work. After typing the ip adresse i get a
"Remote host could not be accessed. The remote host name is valid,
but the remote hos may not be running dtlogin (or other X display
manager)"
Im not sure to continue to install srss with that litle problem. Dont
wnat to search days why srss is not working when i have a massive
problem on solaris itself.
Does anyone have an idea how to get that to work ? I mean the remote
login with "Enter Hostname".
To get that to work, you need to configure GDM on that host to allow
XDMCP logins. I have never tried that with the new GDM, so I can't help
you with that. But I am certain that XDMCP is disabled by default - i.e.
GDM is configured to NOT listen for connections from the network.
Sun Ray software has nothing to do with XDMCP, so whether that works or
not doesn't say a lot about SRSS.
AFAIK SRSS does work on the November release of Solaris 11 Express, but
kiosk mode does not (and I'm not sure about OVDC connections).
