MMR (Multimedia Redirection) is just one part of the Sun Ray Windows
Components to enhance the user experience. If you want to redirect the
supported video formats from WMP on XP or 2003, then *yes* you want to
have MMR. MMR is different than Flash, as supported formats are played
via WMP (or the WMP IE plugin) it is actually sent and decoded at the
Sun Ray. Far less resources required, but limited to the formats that
are DTU can decode. Flash is transcoded into mjpeg then sent to the Sun
Ray.
Currently we don't support "MMR" in Win7/2008. We have a solution we
call RCA which is like the flash solution, but for multiple media types,
not just flash.

Will SunMMR be needed with 5.2?

5.2 is in beta, but 5.1.2 is out. (Sorry for the typo of 5.12)
There are more flash fixes/enhancements coming in 5.2 if you want to wait.
uttsc-bin is setuid, which don't leave cores by default. Use coreadm to
set those programs to leave core files.

Many thanks Craig, we will update to SRSS 5.2 as far I can see there is
a bug reported about Windows Connector crashing on flash enabled sites
(The weird thing it's that it doesn't dump a core on the Solaris side).
Meanwhile update to Flash 10.3 and fiddling a bit with the register
seems to fix the problem.

You are running fairly old versions.
What patch levels are you running for srss and srwc and the windows
tools?
Can you upgrade to SRS 5.12 and the View Connector 1.2? View connector
is not as critical but there have been many fixes for flash.
You'll need to ensure you update the windows connector tools on the VM
and the firmware on DTU.

We think we have nailed the problem. It seems that Internet Explorer 8
and Flash 10 is a death combination, because we could reproduce the
crash test, but if you use Explorer 7 the connection doesn't crash.
Any one suffer the same problems?

It doesn't fix the problem. For the record the installation we are
using is
Solaris 10/9
SunRay Server 5 (4.2) + patches
Windows Redirector 2.2
View Connector 1.1
Windows Error:
Origen: utUsbRedirector
Error: ServerChannel:flush (WriteFile failed - error:1
Thanks for any idea

Hello
It seems to be a problem with Flash not Windows Media Player,
but we
are going to try it right now and reproduce the crash test
Thanks for the info, I will keep yours informed
You need to migrate to SRS 5&and :
1. Install the SunMMR package from the srwc_2.1
2. Install the Matroska splitter
3. Install ffdshow

Objet : [SunRay-Users] Sunray and View Crashing
Hello
We have a deployment in one of our costumers with Sunray Server
4.2 on Solaris 10 and VMWare VDI 4.5 to provide virtual machines
(Windows XP SP2). The question is when the users browse a web page
with flash content the Windows Connector crash and also crash the
session.
The trouble it's repeteable and disabling Windows Connector it's
not a option due to Media Optimization. I will provide the logs
from the Sunray Server, but in the Windows XP event log we see
some errors with usb service of Windows Connector.
Any advice will be appreciated
Regards
