Hi Daniel,

1.) sounds quite interesting, that's the reason I would like to have it in the
GUI, because it's needed often.

2.) My experience with the pulldown of the broker is not that good, e.g there
is no 1680x1050 resolution setting, which would be default for 22" screens and
I don't know what happens, if you have a Sun Ray 3 plus like me. Anyway, as 1 %
of our users gets vda kiosk and 99 % a plain uttsc login screen, I need to
preconfigure it in the sun ray screen.

An extension of our metakiosk to something like kiosk + number in the other
field of the token e.g

uttsc_[123],

uttsc equals uttsc
uttsc_1 equals uttsc_1280x1024
uttsc_2 equals uttsc_1680x1050
uttsc_3 equals uttsc_1920x1200

would intrigue me here. Need to think about ...

kind regards, thomas

PS: So why don't you make something official here, would be nice.

Thomas,

For 1.) you can use this ...

http://blogs.sun.com/danielc/entry/meta_kiosk_how_to_run

For 2.) Sometimes it is a bit more complicated than that since a special timing
may be required. OVDI now does have a pull down that let's you select at login
time the res you want, though it's limited. HTH to being with. Or... add code
to 1.) and let me know ;)

Cheers!

Hi List,

I'm in the process of rolling out around 600 Sun Rays in an SRSS/VDI
Environment, where we only use WTS and some physical PC's. I'm facing two
issues, which happen a lot, which I would like to address within the Web-GUI,
because currently they need commands on the shell, which I don't want to allow
for our 1st level Helpdesk.

1.) kiosk
        - we use default uttsc to a wts as default session (default kiosk),
only a few people get other kiosks like the vda-broker or other customized
things. So far you can select in the Token GUI default, regular or kiosk, but
cannot assign some of the available kiosks that are predefined. Or speaken in
shell words, I want a "utkioskoverride -s kiosk -r token# -c vdasession", which
if I have defined with "utkiosk -i vdasession -f /tmp/vdasession" before.

So I would need a pulldown menu, that does a "utkiosk -l" and let me assign one
of the available kiosk session to the token.

2.) Screen Resolution

        - a couple of sun rays do not detect their monitors correctly, or it's
a beamer, a switchbox or whatever. So I would like to have a menupoint in the
GUI, which shows me the pulldown of "utresdef" and let me assign this to a
particular desktop, which comes more or less to

        utresadm -a -c mac# -t default 1280x1024@60 or so.

In a perfect world this would also be capable to cope with Sun Ray 3
plus, where we need two fields for the resolution, as e.g. your Developers have
24" First monitor with e.g 1920x1200, but a 19" second monitor with e.g.
1280x1024.

Would be happy to see this in a next SRSS and/or VDI version.

Appreciate your feedback, Thomas
