Hi Paul,

this is how we do it for WTS2008 R2

1.) To find the printer driver name, check the Windows Registry key
MyComputer/HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Control/Print/Environments/Windows
 x64/Drivers/Version-3.
2.) Find a Printer you like e.g. HP Laserjet 2200 Series PCL 5", HP Universal
Printing PCL 5 is good for old Laserjets, I guess even Deskjets, etc., HP Color
LaserJet 2800 PS is nice for HP Color Lasers,
3.) Use the name of the driver literally, case sensitive ... important
4.) I create the printer queues with the MAC address of the SunRay to easy
identify them.
5.) Register the Sun Ray as a Token pseudo.00212840846a (in GUI at
https:/xxx:1661 ... session - view token - edit ...)
6.) Create a appropriate kiosk for that box see below
7.) utkioskoverride -s kiosk -r pseudo.0021284046a -c
ts2008_config_for_sunray_00212840846a
8.) You should see then a printer called 0021284046a as the default printer in
your WTS session, at least this it how it works for me
9.) pay attention on your policy, if you do allow printer forward, if unsure
test e.g with mstsc from some other pc with forwarding some local printer to
see if wts policy allow import of printers. We had such a issue, that I could
what i want, it did not get visible until we changed some policy, I don't know,
some windows stuff.

e.g WTS2008R2: uttsc -l de-DE -r printer:00212840846a="HP LaserJet 2200 Series
PCL 5" ts2008

If somebody knows a Environment Variable for the MAC of a connected Sun Ray
this would easy my work, then I could create a general kiosk like

uttsc -l de-DE -r printer:$MAC_ADDRESS="HP LaserJet 2200 Series PCL 5" ts2008

I do know so far only $USER, which is utk# of the unix process of the connected
session, which is nice for mounting USB sticks with -r.

regards, thomas

Betreff: [SunRay-Users] Windows kiosk printing

Greetings all,

I have a RHEL5 server setup and running srss 5.2.  I have a printer on our
network setup on the Sun Ray server and can print from a standard srss session
just fine.

In the end, I am going to use it to connect to a Windows RDP session.  I am not
able to get the Windows printing to work.  The connector attaches to the server
just fine.  I use the -r printer:myprinter <IP of windows server> on the option
line.  On the Win 2008 server, I do not have any printers installed.  I have
read everything I can on the wikis and from the latest docs.  My understanding
is that if the printer is installed locally on the SRSS box, and I use the -r
printer: option, the uttswc will present that as a printer to Windows.  Now
granted, I am sure I am missing something in the reading of the docs, but I
have not found a good step by step on this one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

/paul
