All, There was a significant firmware issue related to performance found in the recent SRS 5.2 release. Support has been working with customers over the last few weeks to implement a workaround which involved downgrading their units to 5.1.2 firmware. A fix for this issue has now been completed and a new version of the firmware created.
The fix for this has been released as a refresh to the media pack on eDelivery from the current version (v2) to the new version (v3). Engineering has updated the README for the media kit to describe the changes. The new media kit will include an updated SRS 5.2 image and leave the OVDC image unchanged. The impact for customers is as follows: Customers who have not yet downloaded and installed SRS 5.2 will be able to avoid the firmware performance issue altogether. They won't be required to go to ARU to get a fix after immediately downloading SRS 5.2. The installation process will install SRS 5.2 replacing the broken firmware with the good firmware seamlessly. Customers who already download and installed SRS 5.2 will have to download SRS 5.2 again and upgrade. The upgrade is very light weight as it will only apply the changes required to replace the broken firmware with the new firmware. Customers can differentiate between the v2 and v3 versions of SRS 5.2 by running the command /opt/SUNWut/sbin/utrelease The old (broken) version of SRS 5.2 is identified by the string "Sun Ray Software 5.2". The new (good) version of SRS 5.2 is identified by the string "Sun Ray Software 5.2.1". Any customer reporting an issue to service not running 5.2.1 should upgrade. The README for the v3 media pack will be updated to include the following statement: Sun Ray Software 5.2 Media Pack v3 for Oracle... Software included in this Media Pack Notes: Required for License Sun Ray Software 5.2.1* Sun Ray Software Oracle Virtual Desktop Client 2.1 (for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux)** Notes: * Sun Ray Software 5.2.1 update is available as part of this media pack. Customers running Sun Ray Software 5.2 should download and upgrade to this latest update. ** Oracle Virtual Desktop Client 2.1.11 update is available.
