I have a user that has a SunRay 1g that he has been using for quite some time. He recently updated to the firmware 4.3_146928-01_2011.06.03.14.41. We were testing a new SR 5.2 server with this firmware. He is now back to using our production server that is a 4.2-78 linux installation.

With the new firmware, after 8 hours he is seeing the following message:

28F "VPN timed out - reset to restart"

And upon restart it prompts for the VPN user/password. It seems to remember the user but not the password even though both were placed into the firmware.

We did not see this behavior with the older firmware. I presume that this corresponds to firmware IKE timeout which is set to 28800. Can this be turned off so that there is no timeout?

Why won't it remember the Password?

Is is ok to run newer firmware against an older server?

Sorry, for all the question :)
