Are you running a window manager? I'd say there's a good chance that
there is a modal window asking about or telling you about the extension
that got installed.
You can google system-wid extensions and you'll find that almost
everyone considers it broken since around 3.5 or 3.6
Basically what you are going to have to do is run mozilla under an
account and create a prototype out of it, minus the pango stuff (if
using Solaris). So anything from that user that is in
$HOME/.mozilla/firefox/* will go in /etc/opt/SUNWkio/prototypes/<name of
your kiosk app>/.mozilla/firefox/*
What information is contained in each file changes often with Firefox,
so I can't tell you exactly what you need to do step by step, but that
should get you started.
I've also created a nice locked down firefox using only userChrome.css
prefs.js
Having trouble getting it working on Linux like it does on Solaris, but
I can post the two files if FF on Linux experts want look deeper as to
why it's not respecting the system based copies of these files.
Other than that, it works on FF 3.x through 7 thus far.

Hi all
have been happily running Firefox2 with the BMA kiosk plugin for our library
kiosk for a year or two now. A website upgrade require Firefox3, and I've done
a fresh kiosk session with the same plugin ready to upgrade sessions to
(the session essentially wraps "/opt/firefox/firefox -kiosk" in a
small shell script).
For some reason, the session that works fine in an X session refuses to display
anything on a Sunray. Firefox appears to be running fine, but the screen remains
blank.
It seems to be plugin related, as I can start a 'vanilla' firefox successfully.
Has anyone run into this and have some suggestions as to what could be
causing it?
