We are trying to convert all of our Sunray clients to IPv6 connections between the DTU and the dual-stacked Sunray server. Setting it all up was simple enough and we switched the clients to IPv6 and the clients connected and all was fine. But then we started actually using it. After about five minutes the connection freezes for about 10 seconds. The interval between the freezes and the length of the freeze will vary, and it does not affect all the IPv6 DTUs at the same time.
We suspect this may be related to the Sunray processing ICMPv6 Neighbor advertisement or ICMPv6 Router advertisement messages incorrectly, as these seem to hit the wire at the same time as the freeze. But there are a lot of these messages and not all of them freeze it, so it could just be a coincidence. If we run a continuos ping from the Sunray server to the DTU, the pings drop during the freeze. What's even more interesting is that the screen will update during the freeze (and ping timeouts), but no input is sent to the server. It does seem to buffer it and then it's sent all at once after it is restored a few seconds later. We are running SunRay Software 5.2.3 and the Sunray 3+ has firmware: 4.3_146928-03_2011.10.10.14.05. Our DTUs do have global unicast IPv6s addresses and they are picking up IPv6 DNS servers over DHCPv6. The IP addressing is IPv6 auto-config. We have tried this under previous versions and had the same result, so we reverted back to IPv4. We were hoping it would go away with the latest software, but it remains. The only thing that makes it stop is switching to IPv4 in the DTU menu. Has anybody else experienced this or have any steps on how to continue troubleshooting? Is anyone else using IPv6 on Sunray without problems?
