thanks for your advice.
Actually this is what we did when I wrote "...so we searched for wrong
permissions due to old group ids and fixed them." - but obviously we
missed some files (e.g. utdsd.conf, admin.pw).

After correcting group ids on these files and another utrestart -c /
reboot of the host nearly everything went well.

There's only one place where the old GID reappears: the
syslog-configuration contains a block starting with
"# added by Sun Ray activation -- do not modify"
which controls the file permissions of
/var/opt/SUNWut/log/{messages,admin_log} - so the newly created files
got the old wrong GID; this is now fixed.
