maybe we have a different version of the VDI?
If I run "--version" it tells me:
/opt/SUNWvda/sbin/vda --version
Oracle Virtual Desktop Infrastructure 3.4 (Build 60)
If you have this FQDN option, and we're not... Mayby there's a bug?

I'm guessing that your VM's have some sort of generic local user
account/password set? and running vRDP?
